About the event

Shadow Rising

You are hearing the whispers, seeing the signs, and feeling the draw towards more... more depth, more connection, and more discovery.

This offering is a way to provide a safe and supportive space for the men of the Eugene/Springfield community and those nearby to intentionally do shadow work with a low-cost entry barrier.

This container is oriented in moving towards the edge, touching the depths beneath the surface, and integrating what was met and learned in that experience so that it may be applied into your everyday life.

Each month, one to three men will have the opportunity to step into a facilitated shadow work process while the rest of the group serves as witnesses, participants, and a field of support. Whether you are receiving the process or supporting another man through his, everyone is engaged in the work together.

Some months you may find yourself stepping into your own process. Other months you may simply witness another man's journey. Time and time again, we have seen that what unfolds for one man often touches something universal, allowing everyone in the room to discover parts of themselves through the work. There is tremendous healing in both being seen and in seeing another.

What is Shadow Work?

Shadow work is about meeting the unconscious, unaware, and avoided parts of ourselves with conscious awareness. In this container, we work less with the cognitive, thinking mind and more with the body and what is alive and present in real time.

There are many ways to do shadow work, and the way this container does it is by facilitating a process that can include sentence stems (offered unfinished sentences for the participant(s) to complete), gestalt therapy practices, psychodrama, group participation, loving touch (if consented to), parts work, meditation, imagination, breathwork, bodywork, dyads, and more.

Each process is unique, emergent, and intuitive. The process that unfolds cannot be premeditated nor repeated. However, the results tend to be: clarity, insight, discovery, connection, an open heart, a sense of direction, regulation, joy, lightness, freedom, gratitude, emotional strength, spiritual strength, resilience, informed optimism, a sense of wholeness, authenticity, excitement for life, grounded embodiment, and acceptance.

This is what happens in 1:1 work, and in a safe and supportive group, this is all amplified by the Love from the multiple hearts that hold and nourish the work.

Facilitators

The container is held by three facilitators: Jacob Albritton, Dustin Caldwell, and Oak Brown.

Jacob Albritton

Founder of Moon Mountain Healing, shadow work facilitator, breathwork facilitator, guide, and coach.

Jacob's work integrates somatic shadow work, conscious connected breathwork, relational healing, and his personal work exploring what it means to be a man to help people cultivate greater awareness, emotional resilience, and authentic connection. His approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, embodiment, and the belief that healing happens through relationship.

He has been in men's work for over five years, doing intentional shadow work for four years, and professionally leading shadow work and guiding others through transformation for over a year. His mentor and teacher for shadow work and men's work is Luke Adler. Jacob has been working with Luke for four years.

Dustin Caldwell

Dustin Caldwell is a business owner, men's group facilitator, and guide whose passion is creating spaces where men can show up honestly, reconnect with themselves, and experience the healing that happens through authentic brotherhood.

His journey into men's work has been shaped by decades of personal growth, leadership training, and shadow work. Through Heart of Shadow, ongoing men's groups, and years of working alongside mentors such as Luke Adler, Dustin has come to believe that some of life's deepest transformation happens when men feel safe enough to be fully seen, challenged with compassion, and supported by other men walking the same path.

Dustin approaches this work with humility, curiosity, and the belief that none of us ever outgrow our own healing. He is committed to continuing his own work while helping cultivate spaces where men can reconnect with their authenticity, courage, and capacity to love.

Alex (Oak) Brown

Oak has been working in various capacities of service and care for most of his adult life. He has resonated with supporting other humans through much of his work and continues to lean into this passion. Currently, he is a licensed massage therapist working at a spa in Eugene. Bodywork and healing touch have greatly expanded his path of introspection and body awareness. This work has given him clarity on how each individual's healing path is unique and beautiful. Finding the ways to support himself and others on that path is central to his purpose in this life.

Over the past six years, Oak has been involved in various forms of personal shadow work, spiritual growth, healing arts practices, and, more recently, men's work. He took part in Cascadia Quest's Tending Male Fire in 2022, which was deeply transformational and led to deeper explorations independently. When Jacob invited Oak to co-facilitate their Root & Rise open men's group, he was deeply honored and became truly passionate about the importance of this work.

Scope of Practice

Shadow Rising is an educational, experiential, somatic, relational, and men's development offering centered around shadow work, self-awareness, embodiment, brotherhood, and personal growth.

Shadow Rising is not group psychotherapy or professional counseling.

The facilitators are not acting as psychotherapists, psychologists, professional counselors, clinical social workers, psychiatrists, or medical providers within this container.

The facilitators do not diagnose or treat mental health disorders or medical conditions and do not provide psychotherapy, professional counseling, psychiatric care, or medical treatment through Shadow Rising.

Our work may involve exploring emotions, bodily sensations, personal history, family patterns, relationship dynamics, protective responses, beliefs, inner child material, imagination, masculinity, sexuality, and other aspects of participants' lived and internal experiences.

These experiences are explored for the purposes of self-awareness, personal development, embodiment, relational practice, and building a deeper relationship with yourself and others.

Shadow Rising is not a replacement for psychotherapy, medical treatment, psychiatric care, or other licensed professional services.

Participants remain responsible for seeking appropriate licensed or emergency support when needed.

The facilitators may recommend that a participant seek additional support from a licensed mental health, medical, or other qualified professional when they believe a participant's needs extend beyond the facilitators' training, competence, or scope of practice.

The facilitators reserve the right to modify, pause, or discontinue a participant's involvement when they believe continued participation is outside of the scope of the program or cannot continue in a physically or relationally safe and supportive way.

Receiving a process is never guaranteed. Each gathering unfolds organically, and the facilitators discern which process(es) will best serve both the individual and the group.
